Region – Towns in the Community Advocate readership area are slowly starting to get back to normal but there are still significant power outages throughout the communities.
Here is an update as of 4:30 p.m. today –
Vanessa Charles, a media spokesperson for National Grid, said there are still 196,000 customers without power throughout Massachusetts.
Those include: Marlborough – 3,281; Northborough – 2,399; Southborough – 659; and Westborough – 1,368.
Charles said National Grid is anticipating that all customers will have their power restored by Nov. 3, at 8 p.m. She noted that the company was unable to say exactly which neighborhoods would be connected back first.
“We realize that people are justifiably frustrated and we thank them for their patience,” she said. “We have crews from many places, including North Carolina, Michigan, Kentucky and New Brunswick working very hard to get everyone back up.”
It was important, she added, for people to assume if they saw a downed wire that it was live and therefore, dangerous.
“Please call 1-800-456-1212 if you see one down,” she added.
In Hudson, according to the Hudson Light and Power website (www.hudsonlight.com) ten percent of the town is still without power. Updates with specific streets that have had power restored are being added to the website.
In Shrewsbury, according to the Shrewsbury Electric and Cable Operations (SELCO) Twitter feed, there is only 1 percent of the town still without power.
