Marlborough's senior community encouraged to register for Nov. 15 memory screeningsMarlborough – Senior Helpers, Pleasantries Adult Day Services, and Elder Resources are encouraging members of the Marlborough community to be proactive about memory health by taking advantage of free, confidential memory screenings and information about successful aging Tuesday, Nov. 15.

The event is part of National Memory Screening Day (NMSD), an annual initiative that the Alzheimer's Foundation of America (AFA) holds each November during National Alzheimer's Disease Awareness Month. More than 2,000 sites across the country will be participating. Senior Helpers, Pleasantries Adult Day Services, and Elder Resources will provide the memory screenings at Pleasantries Adult Day Services, 195 Reservoir St., Marlborough, from 1 to 3 p.m. and 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Refreshments will be offered.

Anna Pollard, a local Geriatric Care Manager from Elder Resources, will administer the screening, which consists of a series of questions and tasks, and takes 10 to 15 minutes. Screening results are not a diagnosis, and individuals with below-normal scores or who have concerns are encouraged to pursue a full medical exam.
