The C.A. picture of the day

Westborough – The Westborough Community Land Trust (WCLT) has announced four winners in its 2011 photo contest “Wild in Westborough.” However, the “People's Choice” award still remains to be determined by the votes of people attending the photo exhibit at Tatnuck Bookseller.
Three Westborough residents and one resident of Sudbury won prizes for their photos of natural subjects in Westborough.
First place went to James McAlice of Westborough for “Fall Sky,” described by the judges as the most dramatic photo. The scene was photographed at Westborough Shopping Center.
Kaleigh Wright of Westborough won second place for “Splash of Red,” taken at Robin Road.
Third place went to Barry Hall of Westborough for “Crystalline Leaves,” taken at Westborough's Wile Forest.
Frank Vitale of Sudbury won honorable mention for “Garter Snake.” This image was
captured in Westborough at Cedar Hill/Sawink Farm Reservation.
Sharon Williams of the WCLT photo contest committee was proud of the quality of the entries.
“We hope all the beautiful photos here will encourage people to get out and walk the trails and enjoy the open spaces and the natural environment in our community,” Williams said when she announced the winners.
She also noted that the photographs were identified only by number during the judging, so that judges had no knowledge of the identity of the photographers.
The prizes were donated by local businesses including Green Thumb, Olde Nourse Farm, Art and Frame Emporium and Tatnuck Bookseller.
The four prize-winning photos and 32 others are currently on exhibit at the events room at Tatnuck Bookseller on Lyman Street in Westborough through the beginning of November. The exhibit is open to the public at no charge.
