Westborough – Arthur A. Wentzell Jr., 89, died Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2011 at the UMass Memorial Healthcare – University Hospital after a period of failing health. He was the husband of Lillian (Prefontaine) Wentzell.
Born in Worcester, the son of the late Arthur and Teckla (Bergstrom) Wentzell, he was a graduate of North High School and of Worcester Junior College. He also attended the School of Industrial Management at WPI and at Northeastern University. During World War II, he served with the U.S. Marine Corps.
Mr. Wentzell was employed as a supervisor at Wyman-Gordon for 34 years, retiring in 1985. He was a member of the Congregational Church of Westborough and the Westborough Country Club, and was an avid golfer.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Robert A. Wentzell and his wife Donna of Brookfield; one brother, Gordon R. Wentzell of Oakham; and three grandchildren, Rikki Lee Wentzell, Lee Anne Wentzell and Alicia Melesky. He was the step- father of the late Charles M. Melesky and brother of the late J. Robert Wentzell.
His funeral service will be held Saturday, Nov. 12, at 11 a.m., in the Rand-Harper-Pickering Westborough Funeral Home, 62 West Main St., Westborough. Burial, with military honors, will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery. A calling hour will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the funeral service at the funeral home.
