Shrewsbury – After the Oct. 29 nor'saster, which knocked down many trees and power lines, local towns are facing an extensive and expensive cleanup. Complicating the problem in Shrewsbury is that many of the town's trees have been infested with Asian Longhorn Beetles (ALB), an insidious pest threatening countless Worcester and Shrewsbury trees.
Tree branches and limbs infested with ALB may be removed only by ALB-certified tree removal specialists. So serious is the town about this issue that residents caught not using a certified specialist will be subject to a fine.
