Shrewsbury – Students at Shrewsbury's Oak Middle School have been diligently rehearsing for their upcoming production of “The Curse of the Bard,” which will be performed Friday and Saturday, Nov. 18 & 19, at 7 p.m., in the Oak Middle School auditorium.

The cast and crew of 40, led by director Nathan Colby, have been exploring a little unconventional Shakespeare. The action of the play, written by Stephen Murray, follows the excitement of a group of high school students during one outlandish production of “Romeo and Juliet.” The drama director, however, is horrified. Twenty years before, when she was a student at Hilltop High, she starred in a disastrous musical version of Shakespeare's “Scottish Play,” and she believes the curse lingers on. Add a series of eccentric characters and you never know what will happen next in this madcap comedy.

Tickets are $5 and will only be available at the door. Both performances will take place in the Oak Auditorium at Oak Middle School, 45 Oak St.
