Music Worcester receives funding from Massachusetts Cultural CouncilWorcester – Music Worcester, Inc. has received a grant in the amount of $6,200 from the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency. The grant was awarded through the MCC's Cultural Investment Portfolio Program and it will support general operating expenses and programming for the Worcester Music Festival season. State grants are awarded through a competitive process, and the grant signifies that Music Worcester provides a high level of public value through its programs and community service.

“The Commonwealth and the Massachusetts Cultural Council have continued to be strong supporters of the arts even in these challenging fiscal times,” said Senator Stephen M. Brewer. “Programs like Music Worcester are key to more tourism and increasing community development.”

The funding will allow for improved programs and better outreach. MCC has a budget of $10 million, including an appropriation of $8.4 million from the state of Massachusetts and grants from the National Endowment for the Arts and other sources.

The mission of the MCC is to promote excellence, education, access and diversity in the arts, humanities and sciences in order to improve the quality of life for all Massachusetts residents and to contribute to the economic vitality of communities.
