Rotary Club will once again light up Westborough
Each year, local families have a great time at the Rotary Club's Festival of Lights.

Westborough – The downtown area around the town's rotary will once again be lit up for the holiday season thanks to the Rotary Club of Westborough. The public is invited to the kickoff of the Festival Lights on Sunday, Nov. 27, starting at approximately 4 p.m.

The Rotary Club sponsors this event each year as one of their service projects. They pick up the tab for both the actual lights and the electricity.

Members of the club, along with assistance from Boy Scout Explorer Post 85, and the Department of Public Works, string lights into the pear trees that line the streets leading to the rotary.

Rotary Club member Carol Burtt Borglund said this year the club had to re-string and re-lamp the trees. To help with expenses, the Rotary has sold buttons at the town dump for $1 each.

A chorus will also lead the public in a festive “Holiday Sing” at the event. In addition Santa Claus will take a break from action at the North Pole to make a special visit courtesy of one of the town's fire trucks.

“It is always a lovely evening – and wonderful for children and anyone who would enjoy the warmth from singing and from standing under the trees when the switch lights them!” Burtt Borglund said.
