December adult programs at Shrewsbury Public LibraryShrewsbury – Shrewsbury Public Library, 609 Main St., has announced its upcoming adult programs for the month of December. For more information about any of these programs, call the library at 1-508-842-0081.

Wednesday, Dec. 7, at 7 p.m., come to meet author Vin Femia, who will be speaking about his latest sports book, “Patriot Pride: The 50 Year Rise of the New England Patriots from Mediocrity to Dynasty, as Seen through a Fan's Eyes.”

The book covers a half-century of the New England Patriots, providing a decade-by-decade summary of the team, from their beginnings to the repeated Super Bowl wins in the first decade of the present century. Included in the book are interviews with the most popular players and coaches, and lots of lavish pictures. Femia will regale guests with the stories behind the events. This author event is free and open to all interested.

Sunday, Dec. 11, at 2 p.m., the acting team of Susan Nest and Bill Sigalis will present a heart-warming and timely dramatic reading, “Two for Christmas,” a presentation of two holiday stories, “A Child's Christmas in Wales” and “A Christmas Memory” – memories of Christmases past as seen through the eyes of Dylan Thomas and Truman Capote.

Sigalis and Nest have performed extensively with such groups as Blue Pumpkin Productions, Foothills Theatre, Worcester Forum Theatre, New England Theatre Company, Redfeather Theatre Company, Pilgrim Soul Productions, Stageloft Theater, Oldcastle Theatre and Foxrock Performance Company. The dramatic reading is free and open to all interested.

Monday, Dec. 19, at 7 p.m., the Shrewsbury Genealogy Club will hold their monthly meeting. Anyone interested in family history and genealogy is welcome to attend. Light refreshments will be served.

Also, Wednesday, Dec. 12, at 10:30 a.m., the Eclectic Browsers Book Club will discuss Joan Medlicott's “A Covington Christmas.” The book is another gentle, inspiring and timely novel by the author of the Ladies of Covington series. Copies of the book are available at the circulation desk.

Shrewsbury Public Library is also reminding the community that its language learning groups will continue throughout the month, albeit in abbreviated form. The French Conversation Circle meets Monday, Dec. 12, at 4 p.m. Spanish learners will meet Thursdays, Dec. 1, 8 and 15 at 6:30 p.m. And, English learners will meet Mondays, Dec. 5 and 12 at 5 p.m.; Tuesdays, Dec. 6 and 13 at 2:30 p.m.; and Thursdays, Dec. 1, 8 and 15 at 5 p.m.
