Rivals hit the road for 'spirited’ 5K race

mostly from Hudson and Marlborough, start the third annual School Spirit 5K Run/Walk presented Nov. 26 by Highland City Striders, beginning and ending at Hudson Elks Lodge.

Finishing first overall in 16:13 was Luke Doherty Munro of Hudson High School (HHS) Class of 2009. Setting a female course record of 18:33 was Allyson Oram of Marlborough High School (MHS) Class of 2010. The Spirit Award for most runners and walkers registered went to Hudson with 261. Of the total 481 registered, 190 were from Marlborough and 30 from area towns.

Proceeds will go to the Hudson Elks Scholarship Fund for graduates of HHS and MHS classes of 2012.
