Northborough – More than 150 seniors gathered in the Algonquin Regional High School (ARHS) cafeteria for the annual Northborough Lions Club Harvest Dinner Nov. 15.
After a prayer offered by Lions Club member Paul Darcy, members of the ARHS girls basketball team and the defending state champion girls gymnastic team, along with their respective coaches, served a turkey dinner complete with all the fixings. The turkey was donated by O”Driscoll's Butchery in Northborough.
Lions Club President Ron Aspero believes the seniors always enjoy the event.
“We have many of the same faces year to year,” Aspero said, “and the attendance is always high.”
Throughout the meal, trumpet player Tony DeAngelo serenaded the crowd with jazz tunes old and new.
The Lions Club has hosted the Harvest Dinner for more than 30 years. This year, the event was sponsored by St. Mary's Credit Union in Northborough. Branch Manager Alan Herzog was in attendance and noted how pleased St. Mary's was to be able to be a part of the event.
