The 7th Annual Northborough Holiday Trolley set for Dec. 10Northborough – For the seventh year, the Holiday Trolley will ride up and down Main Street from 12 to 5 p.m., stopping at participating retailers, restaurants and local businesses, and giving local residents from Northborough and surrounding towns an opportunity to spread some cheer while they holiday shop and mingle.

Caroling on the Trolley and refreshments at the stops are just a bonus on the fun day out on the town. The ride is free and people are encouraged to get off at each stop on the trolley tour to see what their local businesses are up to. Whether it is Santa, cupcake samples, or discounts and raffles from the participants, there is something for everyone.

At 5:30 p.m., the Trolley will end at the town center for the annual tree lighting ceremony, with Community Affairs of Northborough providing caroling and hot chocolate. The annual tree lighting began in 1968 in honor of the memory of Neil Ellsworth, an Army private first class, who was killed in Vietnam in 1967 at the age of 19. Born and raised in Northborough, Ellsworth was the first town resident to die in the Vietnam War. The Ellsworth family is honored every year by the naming of the tree in Neil's honor.

Everyone is welcome to take part in the Holiday Trolley ride and to attend the tree lighting ceremony. Find the Northborough Holiday Trolley on Facebook and stay updated on coming events for that day.
