Hudson – Edward Furtado, 86, died Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2011 at Kindred Transitional Care and Rehabilitation in Marlborough. He was the beloved husband of the late Ada (Walther) Furtado, who died in 2008.
Born in Portugal, son of Manuel and Beatrice Furtado, he was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy.
Mr. Furtado was employed as a mechanical engineer by the Raytheon Co. in Andover for many years until his retirement.
He is survived by his five children, Joyce Borzumato of Hudson, Lorraine Beiulieu of Bracey, Va., Deborah Barnes of Hudson, Edward Furtado of Leominster, and Michael Furtado of Chittenango, NY; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his former wife, Alyce (Santos) Furtado, of Hudson.
A funeral mass will be celebrated Friday, Dec. 9, at 9 a.m., in Saint Michael's Church, 21 Manning St., Hudson. Burial will follow at 11:30 a.m. in South Dartmouth Cemetery, Elm Street, South Dartmouth. Calling hours will be held Thursday, Dec. 8, from 4 to 7 p.m., at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc., 50 Central Street, Hudson.
