Taking the plunge to help charities
Westborough – John Badenhausen, the director of Westborough Youth and Family Services (WYFS), gets support from the polar bear mascot before he jumps into Lake Chauncy for the third annual Polar Plunge, presented Dec. 3 by In Your Shoes (IYS), a nonprofit giving circle.
Members of five teams collected pledges and raised about $10,700 the day of the event with additional donations to be tallied later. This year, half of the proceeds will be split between WYFS and Westborough Emergency Services. The other half will go to the general fund of IYS.
