Barbara Dumont, 98Southborough – Barbara (Craig) Dumont, 98, died peacefully in her sleep at her home Friday morning, Dec. 9, 2011. She was the beloved wife of the late Raymond M. Dumont, who passed away in 1964.

Mrs. Dumont was a graduate of Marlborough High School, class of 1931. After her marriage to Raymond, they lived in Marlborough until 1943 when they moved to Southborough.

For the first 33 years of her adult life, she was a house wife, mother and Brownie and Girl Scout leader. However, after the early death of her husband, she began a second career at the Fay School of Southborough as a seamstress, laundry and package monitor, lunch table mentor, tea pourer, and unofficial grandmother to several generations of Fay students. She retired in 2006 after 41 years of service.

An active member of Pilgrim Church since 1943, Mrs. Dumont served as a deaconess and for over 30 years was in charge of flowers at the church. An ardent card player and puzzle doer, in the years since her retirement, she would frequently be found sitting at a card table in her living room playing cards or doing puzzles.

She was the devoted mother of Robert C. Dumont and his wife Barbara of Sterling, Joan Clark of Southborough, and Donna Wilson and her late husband Thomas of Scarborough, Maine; cherished grandmother to R. Craig Dumont Jr. and his wife Patricia of Ipswich, Storm McGuire and her husband Gerald of Southborough, Anthony C. Dumont and his wife Karen of San Francisco, Calif., Raymond Clark and his wife Tena of Burlington, N.C., Brian Criden-Clark and his wife Deborah of Portland, Maine, and Amelia W. Jaffe and her husband Justin of Portland, Maine; cherished great-grandmother to Joshua and Sydney Dumont, Kathryn, Gerald, Chase and Emma McGuire, Jasper Dumont, Nathan Clark, Anya and Eva Criden-Clark, and Emma Jaffe; devoted sister to Dorothea Brown of Gilford, N.H.; and loved aunt to many nieces and nephews.

There are no calling hours. A memorial service will be held Saturday, Dec. 17, at 12 p.m., at Pilgrim Church, 11 Common St., Southborough. Burial will be private.
