Marlborough – On Dec. 10, the Peter Rice Homestead, 377 Elm St., opened its doors to the public for an old-fashioned “Christmas at the Farm.” The free event featured evergreens, holly, roaring fireplaces, hot gingerbread and drinks, and baked goods. There were also hands-on origami and paper ornament instructions and a European-inspired hand-embroidery demonstration. Visitors were invited to tour the home and enjoy the festivities, while women in Colonial garb meandered about taking food orders and creating an authentic atmosphere.
