Yolanda T. Dagnello, 86

Shrewsbury – Yolanda T. (Bisceglia) Dagnello, 86, died Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2011 at the Rose Monahan Hospice Home in Worcester, following a brief illness. Her beloved husband of 38 years, Albert D. Dagnello, died in 1986.

She leaves her two children, Robert Dagnello of Worcester and Joanne Corcoran and her husband Stephen of Shrewsbury; her brother, Albert Bisceglia and his wife Georgette of Hyannis; her sister, Gloria Doerr of Grafton; her adored three grandchildren, Juliet Dow and her husband Ted, Marcella Corcoran and her fiancé James Lynch, and John Dagnello; her cherished great-grandson, Teddy; and all her loving special nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings, Marion Campanelli, Antoinette Morgo, Matthew Bisceglia, Anthony Bisceglia, Michael Bisceglia, Dorothy Downer, James Bisceglia, KIA in WWII, Louis Bisceglia, Pasquale “Pat” Bisceglia, Sam Bonanno, and Minnie Pasquale.

Born and raised in Worcester, daughter of the late Pasquale and Theresa (Pacillo) Bisceglia, she has lived in Shrewsbury for more than 60 years. She left high school during World War II to help her family run the Wonder Bar restaurant. She later returned to Doherty High School at age 55 and earned her diploma in 1981.

Mrs. Dagnello had been a fixture at the Wonder Bar Restaurant on Shrewsbury Street for more than 72 years. A wonderful woman, she was a friend to many. She possessed the ability to make people smile and feel comfortable and treated everyone like she had known them for years. She will be remembered for her superb cooking, her strong dedication to her family and the traditions she has passed down to them.

She enjoyed playing cards with her dear friends and her sister Gloria, as well as her monthly bus trips to the casino. She was an avid reader, and participated in the monthly Book Chat at the Shrewsbury Senior Center, as well as many other activities at the center. She was a devoted member of Saint Anne's Parish in Shrewsbury, helped at Human Services and taught CCD.

The family would like to express their appreciation to all those, known and unknown, who have lovingly added to Mrs. Dagnello's rich and full life. “We have lost a piece of ourselves that can never be replaced.”

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family Saturday, Dec. 17, from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m., at the Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, 648 Main St., Shrewsbury. Her funeral will then be celebrated at 11 a.m. with a Mass at Saint Anne's Church, 120 Boston Turnpike (Rte. 9) Shrewsbury. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery in Shrewsbury.
