Alfred A. Cardoza, 94Hudson – Alfred A. Cardoza, 94, a lifelong resident of Hudson, died Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2011 at Beaumont Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center in Northborough. He was the beloved husband of the late Barbara R. (Redman) Cardoza, who died in March of 2011.

Born and raised in Hudson, son of the late Manuel and Mary (Xavier) Cardoza, he attended local schools and was a veteran of World War II serving, in the U.S. Army, 8th Regiment of the 4th Infantry in the European Theater.

Mr. Cardoza was a former machinist for LaPointe's Machine Shop in Hudson and the former Universal Boring Machine Co. He later owned and operated two Mobil Service Stations in Hudson on Washington Street and Wood Square. He sold the service stations and founded Ayer Auto Parts, which he operated for 30 years until his retirement in 1985.

He served on the Board of Directors of the former Community National Bank and was a former member and President of the Gas Stations Dealers Association. He was a member of the Hudson Lodge of Elks, the Masons and the Odd Fellows, and was one of the organizers of the Hudson Boy's Club. He served as President of the Hudson Rotary Club and member of the First Federated Church in Hudson.

He is survived by his son-in-law, Richard Prince of Shrewsbury, husband of the late Carole (Cardoza) Prince who died in 2007, and three grandchildren, David Prince of Oxford, James Prince and his wife Donna of Leicester, and Thomas Prince of West Boylston. He is also survived by his eight great-grandchildren, Amanda Prince of North Grafton; Susan Prince of South Grafton; Cara, Katie and Jessica Prince of Leicester; Reina and Kyle Prince of Worcester; and Hunter Prince of West Boylston.

Family and friends may attend calling hours Friday, Dec. 23, from 12 to 2 p.m., at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc., 50 Central St., Hudson. The funeral service will be held Friday, Dec. 23, at 2 p.m., in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Forestvale Cemetery of Hudson.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Mr. Cardoza may be made to the American Diabetes Association, Boston Office, 330 Congress St., 5th Floor, Boston, MA 02210.
