According to Kristin Chartier, the orchestra director, “A parent of one of the String Chamber Ensemble members happens to work at the Medical Center and heard that they were interested in having music groups come in to perform. She put us in contact with them and helped coordinate the trip.”
Both the Chamber Orchestra and the String Quartet are co-curricular activities, which means that although they meet after school, they are extensions of the Orchestra curriculum. The String Chamber Ensemble, open to anyone enrolled in Orchestra who would like to challenge themselves and play more, rehearses before school on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings from 6:45-7:20 am. The Honors String Quartet, an auditioned ensemble, rehearses on Wednesday afternoons from 2:00-3:30 p.m.
