Marlborough – Mary “Joan” (Belmore) Colacchio, 76, died unexpectedly Saturday, Dec. 24, 2011 at her home. She was the wife of the late Dominic “Squeek” Colacchio, who died in 2001.
Born in Marlborough, she was the daughter of the late Homer and Mary “Ponder” Belmore and lived in the city all her life. An especially loving wife and mother, she devoted her life to her family's care and enjoyment.
She always loved a “good time” and being involved in the festivities around her including her frequent bus trips to Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun. She was a lifelong member of the former St. Mary's Parish.
She is survived by one daughter, Donna J. Colacchio of Marlborough; one brother, Steven Belmore of Brandon, Fla.; one sister, Elizabeth Gates of Amherst, N.H.; several nieces and nephews; and many great-nieces and great-nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Stephen “Butch” Colacchio, in 1996.
Her funeral will be held Friday, Dec. 30, at 11 a.m., in the William R. Short and Son Funeral Home, 95 West Main St., Marlborough, followed by burial in Evergreen Cemetery.
