Rose A. Sanders, 95Shrewsbury – Rose A. (Harpin) Sanders, 95, passed away peacefully Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2011 at the Beaumont Nursing Home of Northborough. Her husband of 66 years, Wilfred L. Sanders Sr., died in 2001. Her son, Richard P. Sanders of Mattapoisett predeceased her in 2005.

She leaves her son, Wilfred (Jack) Sanders Jr. and his wife Gayle of Stratham, N.H.; her daughter, Susan Sanders DiLeo, wife of Andrew, of Shrewsbury; and her daughters-in-law Cecile Sanders of Mattapoisett and Mary Jo Sanders Coyne of Stratham, N.H. She also leaves six grandchildren whom she adored, Elizabeth Driscoll, Jonathan Sanders, Steven Sanders and wife Karen, Joseph DiLeo, Jeffrey Sanders and wife Lynn, and Nicole DiLeo Shooshan and husband Mark, and 10 great-grandchildren Michael and Connor Driscoll; Mykenzi, Hunter and Abigael Sanders; Mya and Chloe Sanders; William and Theodore Sanders; and Gianna DiLeo. She was predeceased by her two brothers, Raymond and Alfred Harpin; her brother-in-law, Alfred Savoy; and her sister-in-law, Doris Derosier and her husband Arnold. She is survived by her sisters, Charlotte Macomber, wife of William of Jacksonville, Fla., and Frances Savoy of Marlborough, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Born in Marlborough, the daughter of Esther and Wilfred Harpin, she was a 1934 graduate of Marlborough High School. She was a member of St. Mary's Parish in Shrewsbury and had been a member of the Woman's Guild, co-chairing the “February Frolics.”

Mrs. Sanders had an infectious laugh and told some great stories of her days working at Hebert's Candies Mansion and the Worcester Foundation for Experimental Biology. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who adored her family. She enjoyed knitting, baking, reading, socializing with friends and family, shopping, and loved to ride around in Sue's convertible.

Her family wishes to thank the entire staff at Beaumont in Northborough, specifically the “Brigham Neighborhood” for the wonderful care and compassion given to Mrs. Sanders and her family while she was a resident there. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with rose's family Thursday, Dec. 29, from 5 to 8 p.m., in the Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, 648 Main St., Shrewsbury. A funeral Mass will be held Friday, Dec. 30, at 11 a.m., in St. Mary's Church, 640 Main St., Shrewsbury. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery in Shrewsbury.
