Southborough – Keeping kids busy during school vacation when there is no snow on the ground for sledding and building snowmen can be a bit tricky. To help meet the needs of parents looking for activities for their kids and for kids looking to have some vacation fun, the Culinary Underground planned a week full of fun and instructional classes. From candy science to pasta making from scratch to cake decorating, classes were geared to both the novice cook and the more advanced ones.
On Dec. 27 a group of kids ages 12 and up enjoyed a two-hour cake decorating class run by instructors Chef Liz Della Paolera (a former elementary school teacher) and Carol Sanzone.
“We want the kids to be able to do this at home,” said Della Paolera. “The idea is to give them hands-on experience, teaching them by demonstration and then by doing.”
Chef Lori Leinbach, founder and director of Culinary Underground, was on hand to help as well.
