Locals report student news, Dec. 30 editionRegion – The following local students performed in “Night on Broadway,” an annual benefit concert presented by the Marist College Singers organization. Catherine Favrot of Westborough is a Marist College senior. Pamela Ellis of Southborough is a Marist College freshman.

“Night on Broadway” is a student concert featuring musical selections from both classic and contemporary Broadway shows. Proceeds from the concert are donated to Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, a charity that assists performers who struggle with the disease. This year, the Marist College Singers donated $5,000, their largest donation to date.

University of San Diego student Brooke Kemper of Southborough is studying in Italy this fall. The semester-long program at the Florence University of the Arts (FUA) is located in the historic Palazzo Doni, which housed famous works of art during the Renaissance, including works of Michelangelo.

Modeled on the liberal arts curricular tradition, FUA offers a wide variety of courses in business, humanities, fine arts, social sciences and natural sciences. Students are able to participate in campus activities such as academic field trips, Friday evening hilltop walks that visit various Florentine neighborhoods and activities with the cultural associations.

Kemper is majoring in marketing and plans to graduate in spring 2013.

Pomfret School is pleased to announce that the following students were named to the high honor roll for the fall term of 2011. A student can earn honors with a 3.0 average and no grade below a “B-,” while high honors is earned with a 3.5 average and no grade below a “B-.”

The following local students were recently named to the High Honor Roll for the fall term at Pomfret School: Molly Mead of Southborough and a member of the Class of 2014. John Sullivan of Southborough and a member of the Class of 2015.
