Hudson – Antonio F. Santos, 79, died Friday, Dec. 30, 2011 at Marlborough Hospital. He leaves his wife of 56 years, Maria Carmo (Braga) Santos of Hudson.
Born and raised in Santa Maria, the Azores, Portugal, he was the son of the late Manuel Joaquim Santos and Maria da Gloria Freitas. He moved to Hudson from Santa Maria in 1974 and was employed as a mason for many years by S&F Concrete Co. of Hudson until his retirement.
Mr. Santos was a member of the Hudson Portuguese Club and was well known there as a talented cook, preparing many dishes for members and guests during the frequent feasts and festivals celebrated at the club. He was also a member of Saint Michael's Parish in Hudson.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his 12 children, Jose Manuel Santos, Antonio Santos, Dinis Santos, Joao Santos, Maria do Ceu Chaves, Marcia Monteiro, Dimas Santos, Aida Santos, Regina Martins, Aristides Santos, Armindo Santos and Michael Santos. He was predeceased by his daughter, Aida Santos at the age of two in Santa Maria. He is also survived by his sister, Irena Chaves; 21 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A funeral Mass was celebrated Jan. 2 in Saint Michael's Church of Hudson, with burial at Saint Michael's Cemetery. The Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home of Hudson assisted with arrangements.
