Westborough – As a personal trainer, Cyndy Bohn, group exercise director at the Westboro Tennis & Swim Club, uses the dedication and determination that has made her an award-winning bodybuilder to transform the bodies and lives of her clients. One such client is Leslie Kritz of Grafton.
When Kritz, 42, began training with Bohn in June of last year, she did not know how to use the equipment in the gym. Before long though, she found the training addictive and began thinking about competitive bodybuilding. She even thought about entering the November Monster Mash, a competition held in Marlborough that is sponsored by Shrewsbury resident and world natural bodybuilding and fitness champion, Nancy Andrews. With Bohn's support, Kritz began training in earnest and made drastic changes to the way she ate.
“When I began training with Cyndy,” said Kritz, “she gave me a diet to follow. I had never eaten clean in my life and this in itself was a real challenge. Cyndy answered all my questions from what to put in my coffee to what to eat before bed. I must have asked her a million questions about food!”
Kritz describes Bohn's training style as “intense,” and always pushing her to her limit. At the end of each work-out session, Kritz said, she could not do one more repetition. But after four months of training, Kritz entered the Monster Mash, and placed second in Novice Figure Tall and fourth in Masters Figure (over 40). She credits Bohn for pushing her to never give up.
“If you listen to Cyndy and follow the steps she lays out for you,” said Kritz, “you will get results. Cyndy was there every step of the way for me. She must have listened to me quit 100 times and not once did her support waver.”
Kritz, who is leaning towards competing in the fall, calls the experience “amazing.”
Hoping to help others reach their fitness goals, Bohn has teamed up with Michelle O”Toole, group fitness director at Anytime Fitness in Grafton, and designed an eight-week “Body Challenge.” The program, which begins in February, combines a personalized weight loss program with a work-out regimen designed to help clients lose weight and tone up.
