Daniel E. Markowitz, 65Hudson – Daniel E. Markowitz, 65, died Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2012 at MetroWest Medical Center, Framingham.

Born and raised in Brooklyn, N.Y., he was the son of Morris Markowitz of New Port Richey, FL and the late Margaret (Donnelly ) Markowitz and the husband of Fran (Derech) Markowitz of Hudson, to whom he had been married for the past 32 years.

A graduate of Columbia University, Mr. Markowitz served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He retired in 2004 from Netbotz, where he had served as Executive Vice President of Sales.

He was always willing to help, wherever the need, was an accomplished chef and craftsman, spending much of his free time in his workshop.

Besides his wife and his father, he is survived by his son, Keith Markowitz and his wife Amy of Danbury, Conn.; his daughter, Brooke Markowitz of Hudson; his grandchildren, whom he loved and enjoyed spending time with, Veronica and Lacey Telesco and Jack and Justin Markowitz; his sisters, Elaine Conwell and Carol Lunapiena, both of Hawthorne, N.Y. and Laura Saiz of New City, N.Y.; his aunt, Xenia Ward of NYC; his sister-in-law, Carole Derech of Marlborough; and his oldest and closest friend, Richard Soricelli, with whom he shared a friendship since the first grade. He was also the brother of the late Michael Markowitz, and leaves many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, as well as his Siberian huskies, Kadyn and Stoli.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, Jan. 14, at 9 a.m., at St. Michael's Church, Manning Street in Hudson. Burial will follow at Forest Vale Cemetery, Broad Street in Hudson. Visiting hours will be held Friday, Jan 13, from 4 to 7 p.m., at the Slattery Funeral Home, 40 Pleasant St., Marlborough.
