Northborough – Elizabeth “Betty” A. (Nichols) Nichols, 92, died Thursday, Jan. 12, 2012 in Beaumont of Northborough. Her husband, Robert E. Nichols, died in 1999.
She leaves three sons, Stephen Nichols of Worcester, Alan Nichols and his wife Clara of Fairport, Ohio, and Jeffrey Nichols and his wife Christine of Worcester; a daughter, Kathie Nichols of Northborough; nine grandchildren; and a sister, Barbara Nichols of Marlborough. A son, Randy Nichols, died in 2010.
Born in Everett, daughter of Harold and Bertha (Farrell) Nichols, she lived in Northborough since 1946. She graduated from Westborough High School in 1937 and from the former Posse Nissen College in Weston in 1939, earning a degree in Physical Education.
Mrs. Nichols was a longtime member of Trinity Church, Northborough Grange and Northborough Historical Society. She enjoyed traveling, bowling, was an avid Red Sox fan and was an active volunteer within the Northborough community.
Visitation will be private. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, Jan. 17, at 11 a.m., in Trinity Church, 23 Main St., Northborough. The Reverend Cynthia Maybeck will officiate. Burial in the Mass. National Cemetery of Bourne will take place at a later date.
