Donald R. Taranto, 73Marlborough – Donald R. Taranto, 73, died Monday, Jan.16, 2012 at Marlborough Hills Healthcare Center after a long illness. He was the husband of the late Patricia A. (Sicotte) Taranto, who died in 2003.

He leaves his children; Mark J. Taranto of Westborough, Timothy E. Taranto of Marlborough, and Tammy C. White of Wells, Ms.; nine grandchildren; and several cousins, nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late John Taranto of Marlborough.

He was born in Waltham, son of the late John and Mary (Frullo) Taranto, and lived most of his life in Marlborough. He was a graduate of Waltham High School and also graduated from the University of Lowell with a BS in Electronics. He was a United States Air Force veteran of the Korean War.

Mr. Taranto was employed for over 30 years as an electronics engineer for the Lockheed Martin Corp., formerly Honeywell, of Lexington. At one time he was the Boy Scout Master of Troop 4 of Marlborough.

He made model airplanes and also flew them. He enjoyed his large veggie garden in his backyard and he was a ham radio operator.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Jan.19, at 10 a.m., in the John P. Rowe Funeral Home Inc., 57 Main St., Marlborough. Burial with military honors will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Wilson Street in Marlborough. Calling hours at the funeral home are Wednesday, Jan. 18, from 4 to 8 p.m.
