Westborough – Josephine M. “Josie” Smeagle, 92, passed away Friday, Jan. 13, 2012 at the UMass/Memorial Healthcare – Memorial Hospital in Worcester. She was the wife of the late William P. Smeagle, who passed away in 2009. Her first husband, Thomas “Smitty” Silvestri, passed away in 1949.
Born in Shrewsbury, she was the daughter of the late Antonio and Josephine (Colletti) Cellucci and was educated in Shrewsbury schools. She worked at the Shrewsbury Racquet Club from 1980 until 1996.
During her adult life, she enjoyed bridge, knitting, crocheting, playing golf, bingo, and, most of all, reading. She was well known at the Westborough Public Library.
Mrs. Smeagle is survived by one daughter, Marianne (Silvestri) Pedersen of Germantown, Maryland; two sons, Thomas Silvestri of Cathlamet, Washington and Walter Smeagle of Westborough; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services and interment will be private. There are no calling hours. The Rand-Harper-Pickering Westborough Funeral Home, 62 West Main St., is assisting the family with arrangements.
