Shrewsbury Cultural Council awards grantsShrewsbury – The Shrewsbury Cultural Council (SCC) has announced the award of 18 grants totaling $6,067 to help support cultural programs offered locally during 2012.

Grant recipients are: Shrewsbury Library, Tower Hill Botanic Garden, Centre Stage Productions, Paton School, Oak Middle School, Worcester Chamber Music Society, Regatta Players, Massachusetts Educational Theater Guild, Shrewsbury Senior Center, Assabet Valley Mastersingers, Coolidge School, Lilliput Early Childhood Center and Arts on the Green. Several recipients received more than one grant.

Massachusetts has 329 local councils serving 351 cities and towns. The councils are funded by the state through the Massachusetts Cultural Council (MCC). Annually more than $2 million in grants is awarded to more than 5,000 programs. These include school programs, lectures, theater, dance, music and visual arts. Individuals, schools and cultural organizations are eligible to apply for project support.
