Westborough Girl Scouts kick off Cookie SaleWestborough – Westborough Girl Scouts recently received a plaque and recognition for their Gifts of Caring during the past cookie sale. Ed Donnelly of the Westborough VFW presented the plaque from Able Company, 2/503rd Airborne Infantry, 173rd Airborne Brigade.

Girl Scouts will again collect cookies for military personnel during their annual Cookie Sale, which runs from Friday, Jan. 20 to Sunday, March 4. New this year, the girls will have cookies for immediate delivery. No more ordering and waiting. As in past years, the troops will hold booth sales on the weekends. These are cash-and-carry sales at various businesses.

There are eight varieties of cookies and all sell for $4 a box. The varieties are Thin Mints, Samoas, Dulce de Leche, Savannah Smiles, Tagalongs, Trefoils, Do Si Dos and Thank U Berry Munch.
Booth sales will be held Fridays from 4 to 7 p.m., and Saturday and Sundays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Locations include Lowes and Stop & Shop Lyman Street on Fridays. Saturday locations are Stop & Shop on Turnpike Road and Lyman Street; Roche Brothers, E.L. Harvey and Sons, Lowes, Sovereign Bank and Central One Federal Credit Union. Many of the 27 troops are planning big trips, community service projects and more from their cookie profits.

The Able Company, 2/503rd Airborne Infantry is in Afghanistan. The Company is located at three separate combat operation posts. The plaque will be displayed at the Westborough Library during the cookie sale for the community to see.
