Westborough – At this point, it appears that the only contested race in this year's Annual Town Election will be for the two open spots on the Board of Selectmen. Three candidates – George Barrette, Denzil C. Drewry and Andrew U. Reinach – have all submitted papers for the election which will be held Tuesday, March 6. The three men are vying for the two spots that will soon be vacated by current Selectmen Lydia Goldblatt and George Thompson.
Nicole D. Sullivan is the only candidate for the spot on the School Committee to replace current Chair, Karen Henderson, who chose not to run for re-election.
Other candidates who returned papers include: Brian Bush, Planning Board, Paul George, Assabet Valley Regional Technical District School Committee and Karen E. Fay, James M. Holmes and Carolyn R. Spring for the three open spots on the Library Board of Trustees.
The town will also be holding the Presidential Primary on March 6. Officials hope that by holding the two elections at the same time, more residents will come out to vote.
