Donald R. Blood Jr., 84Marlborough – Donald R. Blood Jr., 84, died Monday, Jan. 30, 2012 after a brief illness. He was the husband of 64 years of Shirley C. (Cheney) Blood.

Born in Framingham, the son of the late Donald R. and Ethel (Lincoln) Blood, he moved to Marlborough in 1948. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.

Mr. Blood was employed for over 30 years as a truck driver for Sealtest Ice Cream, formerly of Southborough. He was a long time member of the Immaculate Conception Parish serving for many years as an usher and collector. He was an active member and past vice president of the Marlborough Fish and Game, where he acted as tournament director for fishing and shooting competitions.

Besides his wife, he leaves two daughters, Susan M. Boggs of Marlborough and Linda A. Costello and her husband Thomas of Swansea N.H.: a son, Donald R. Blood III and his wife Kathleen of Marlborough; three brothers, Norman Blood and his wife Joanne, Edward Blood and his wife Mildred, and Richard Blood and his wife Dakota; five grandchildren, Jason Blanchette of Peterborough, Michael Blanchette of Jaffrey, N.H., Brian Blanchette and his wife Stephanie of Northfield N.H., Laureen Malley and her husband Brian of Omaha, Neb., and Kaylee Blood of Boston; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Dorothy Mauch.

His funeral will be held Friday, Feb. 3, at 10:30 a.m., in the Immaculate Conception Church, 11 Prospect St., Marlborough. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visiting hours are Thursday, Feb. 2, from 4 to 7 p.m., at William R. Short and Son Funeral Home, 95 West Main St., Marlborough.

The family requests that contributions in his memory be made to the Development Fund of the Immaculate Conception School, 25 Washington Court, Marlborough MA 01752.
