The Light Princess performed Feb, 17 & 18 at Hudson High SchoolHudson – What happens when you'se lost the power to fall – either fall to the earth or fall into love? The Light Princess, based on a fairy tale by George MacDonald, tells the story of a girl cursed at birth without any gravity. With her head literally in the clouds, the Light Princess never takes anything seriously, not even a wandering prince's declarations of love. Performances will be held Feb. 17 and 18, at 7 p.m., in the Intel Mini-Theatre at Hudson High School, 69 Brigham St.

The Light Princess marks the second show which Hudson High School will be bringing to the Massachusetts Educational Theatre Guild's (METG) Festival later on in March. Last year, Hudson High brought Tartuffe, a ridiculous farce that was very well received, even though they entered as a non-competitive show.

Hudson High School juniors Alyssa Russell and Brandon Barney Jr. play the Light Princess and her Prince. Sophomore Sydney Orason plays the vindictive Witch, sister to freshmen Josh Teixeira's King and Brooke Leibowitz's Queen. Sophomore Jeremy Saunders joins the cast as the puppet-wielding Narrator. Original music for the play was composed and will be performed live by freshman Taylor Benson.

The Light Princess is a perfect play for children of all ages, with a flying princess, a daring prince, and a pun-loving narrator. Tickets are $7 at the door.
