Northborough – Ruth (Baker) Munro, 86, died at Coleman House in Northborough Friday, Feb. 17, 2012.

She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Duncan W. Munro of Northborough; a brother, Richard Baker of Rindge, N.H.; and a sister, Margaret Kent of Wells, Maine. A brother, Henry, predeceased her. She also had 14 nieces and nephews that she was fond of.

Born in Fitchburg, daughter of the late Henry and Ruth Baker, she graduated from Cushing Academy, Fitchburg State College and received her Master's degree from the University of New Hampshire.

Mrs. Munro taught school in Amherst, Gardner, Fitchburg, and West Hartford, Conn. before her marriage in 1960. She also taught in the Northborough School System at Proctor School.

She sang in several church choirs and the 100 Town Chorus in Westborough, and was a 50-year member of the Northborough Woman's Club. She and Duncan enjoyed spending summers in their cottage on Lake Winnekeag in Ashburnham.

There are no calling hours. After cremation, a memorial service will be held at a later date in Ashburnham, with interment to follow.
