Westborough – For 14 years, Westboro Paint & Decorating has been meeting its customers” home decorating needs, from paint and wallpaper to window treatments and upholstery fabrics. Soon the company will also handle your Saturday errands.
Westboro Paint will open a new, full-service, traditional hardware store in late spring at 1 Phillips St. in Westborough, just a stone's throw from the home design center on East Main Street at the rotary.
The new store, Village Hardware & Supply Co., “will be your hometown, independent hardware store,” staffed with knowledgeable, service-oriented sales people, said Doug Curving, owner of both stores. “We saw an opportunity and a need in this marketplace for a store like this.”
Village Hardware is scheduled to open late this spring.
Meanwhile, Westboro Paint & Decorating has grown from its founding in 1998 to a full-service source for just about any home decorating need.
The extensive paint department offers “paint and everything related to paint,” said Curving, including advice. Displays allow customers to check paint colors in both natural and artificial light.
Among the new products that will be available this spring, he noted, is a color series from Benjamin Moore, Color Stories, a full spectrum of colors made without black in them so “the colors are clearer, more vibrant, with an added depth and richness.”
The separate design section offers a quiet, comfortable space to leaf through wallpaper books and fabric samples and lay them out on tables to compare.
“We also provide in-house color and design consultation services,” Curving noted. Interior designers Rose Wheeler and Cindy Dorval will work with customers in their homes to choose colors, fabrics and window treatments.
“We can help you move in the right direction” with advice from these professionals.
In addition to paint and wallpaper choices, they can help with fabric choices for draperies and bedding, and Westboro Paint can arrange for custom upholstery work.
The store carries a wide variety of window treatments, including blinds, shades and custom draperies, with samples on display.
“We can handle the work from design to final installation for window treatments and upholstery,” Curving said.
Westboro Paint also provides referrals to other contractors for painting and wallpaper installation work.
“We do a lot of business with contractors in the area, and we can recommend painters and installers who are customers of ours. We value their regular business, and they value that they get referrals because we know they do a good job and treat customers right.”
Curving noted that today's economy and tough real estate market is encouraging homeowners to “focus more on improving their own space and remodeling instead of moving.”
Westboro Paint, he added, is particularly suited to help those homeowners.
“There are not a lot of retailers any more who do what we do, who offer the combination of quality, value and full service. I know it sounds obvious, but those things are still important to a lot of people.”
Westboro Paint & Decorating is located at 15 East Main St. (Route 30) in downtown Westborough. The store is open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., staying open until 8 p.m. on Thursdays, and on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. For additional information, call 508-366-9898 or visit the website, www.westboropaint.com.
And watch for the grand opening of Village Hardware & Supply Co. in late spring!
