Westborough – The Congregational Church of Westborough invites the community to an uplifting afternoon of music celebrating African-American History. Choir members from the Congregational Church, Seventh Day Adventist Church of Worcester, and many more from other houses of worship in Westborough and the surrounding area will be joining in for this special event Sunday, Feb. 26 at 4 p.m.
Spirituals and gospel music will celebrate and honor Black History Month, including “Down to the River to Pray,” featured in the movie “O Brother, Where Art Thou?” as well as “Peter, Go Ring Dem Bells,” “Ride Up in the Chariot,” and “Lift Every Voice and Sing.”
The concert has become an annual event among the joint churches led by Music Director, Curtis Richardson.
The Congregational Church of Westborough is located at the corner of Church and West Main streets, and is handicapped accessible. Free-will donations will be gratefully accepted, and all proceeds from the concert go toward music ministry. Refreshments will be served in the Vestry afterwards.
