Friends ask for support of Zielinski familyTo the Editor:

Each of us has been touched during our lives by a friend or family member who has bravely battled cancer or in the fight of their life.

Recently, our friend and Shrewsbury resident Steve Zielinski was once again given the news that he had bone cancer. Having lost his leg to cancer the first time, he became a survivor and beat the disease. Now, since his diagnosis, Steve has had some of the surgeries needed, and is currently undergoing chemotherapy and radiation treatment. He is supported by his wife, Dzintra and two children, Harry, age 8 years, and Alma, age 3 years, but also many friends and Shrewsbury community members who wish him the best as he and his family fight this battle.

While taking it one day at a time, Steve has not able to work. Therefore, he has been using his sick time as his income to support his family. However, at the end of February Steve will have exhausted all his days and will no longer be financially supported through his employment.

In support of Steve and his family, we have decided to host a fundraiser event at the Italian American Victory Club (Dewey Road, Shrewsbury) on Friday, March 9 at 7 p.m.

We are looking to local business to help support Steve as he fights this terrible disease. The funds raised will help to defray the cost of his medical expenses and support his family while he is undergoing treatment. A donation of any kind will be greatly appreciated. Your donation will be raffled off during the event.

Please consider this request and support those battling cancer. Kindly contact us by February 27th, so arrangements can be made to pick up your donation.

We thank you in advance for your support to the Zielinski family, and the fight against cancer. If you have any questions please contact Pamela LeBlanc at 508-826-9686 [email protected] or Judy Flanigan at 508-878-4891 [email protected].

With Warmest Thanks,

Friends of the Zielinski Family
