Shrewsbury – Olivia Zona, 12, of Shrewsbury recently competed at the Atlanta Crown Gymnastics Invitational and took first place all-around. Olivia competed in all four events and placed first on floor exercise, second on balance beam, and second on vault in her age division.
Olivia, who is a member of the Gymnastics Learning Center Junior Olympic Level 8 team, has been a competitive gymnast for five years and has been involved in gymnastics for 10. During the meet in Atlanta, she competed against girls from Georgia, North Carolina, Alabama, Tennessee and Florida.
“It was really fun to compete against other gymnasts from outside the area and to perform my routines in front of different judges,” Olivia said.
She trains at the Gymnastics Learning Center in Shrewsbury and is coached by Robert and Nikki McElroy.
