Shrewsbury – Last December, the Shrewsbury Social Club (SSC) partnered with students of Shrewsbury High School and local businesses Scizzors and SHARC to host a bake sale. The proceeds, totaling $720.82, were presented Feb. 15 by SSC Service Chair Cynthia Centerbar and SSC Treasurer Laura Nordstrom to Jane Grant, Director of Development.
“The Town of Shrewsbury can be very proud of its high school students for the enthusiasm and effort they put forth making this event such a huge success,” said SSC Interim President Christa Duprey. “The goal was to raise $500, however, due to the amount of confections contributed by the students, the sale hours were extended, and we were able to exceed right past the goal.”
The SSC is planning to repeat the fundraiser in December 2012 and would like to see it become an annual event with more local businesses participating.
For neighbors and newcomers, SSC is a non-profit women's organization committed to supporting Shrewsbury's community and local charities, while bringing new and current residents together through interest-groups and fun-social activities.
