Hudson takes Division 3 FinalHudson – Hudson High School's (HHS) Alex Pantalone (#19, far right) is credited with the game-winning goal 45 seconds into overtime during the Central Mass Division 3 final against Wachusett Regional High School (WRHS). HHS's Blake Seymour (#21, left center) got the assist on the goal as he tipped the shot by WRHS's goalie Jake Strasser (#31, left) despite the defensive efforts of WRHS's Tucker White (#4, center right). The top-seeded Hawks hosted second-seeded Wachusett at the DCU in Worcester March 12.
The first period was all WRHS, as they scored three goals and HHS couldn’t get on the board. Finally, four minutes into the second period, HHS's Alex Pantalone scored the team's first goal. HHS would go on to score two more times, and it appeared that the second period would end up tied. However, WRHS's Colin Bennie scored with three seconds left and WRHS took a 4-3 lead into the locker room.
In the third period, HHS's Tim Murphy scored the only goal, and the game went into a 12-minute sudden-death overtime. Forty-five seconds into the overtime, Hudson's Pantalone put a blast on goal that teammate Seymour tipped for a final score of 5-4. This is Hudson's third consecutive Division 3 title.
