Faith K. Peltekis, 59Southborough – Faith K. Peltekis, 59, formerly of Marlborough, died Wednesday, March 14, 2012 after a courageous battle with breast cancer.

She was born in Hudson, the daughter of the late James A. and Mary (Midouhas) Peltekis. A graduate of Marlborough High School, class of 1970, she later received a Bachelor of Arts degree in education from Regis College with majors in French and Spanish. She then attended Middlebury College where she received a Masters degree in education, majoring in French and Spanish. She continued her studies in French at tSorbonne University in Paris. She also continued her Spanish education at the University of Madrid.

Ms. Peltekis studied in Europe to immerse herself in the foreign cultures of the languages she taught. In addition, she traveled to Mexico, Greece, Romania, Italy, Switzerland, and Austria. She was a lover of the fine arts, and taught at Nichols College and for the last 15 years at Doherty Memorial High School in Worcester.

She was a member of the Massachusetts Teachers Association, National Education Association, and Massachusetts, State, County and Municipal Employees Association. She enjoyed extensive world-wide travel.

She leaves her brother, James A. Peltekis and his wife, Betty, of Marlborough; four nieces, Jamie M. Peltekis of Athol, Nia T. Benoit of Marlborough, Nikki A. Fahlbeck of Sterling, and Kristy L. Harvey of Hudson; a grandnephew, Julian J. Benoit of Marlborough; and her beloved, Fabio Castellanos of Northborough.

A private funeral service was held at Sts. Anargyroi Greek Orthodox Church in Marlborough and burial followed in Evergreen Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society and mailed to Nia Benoit, in care of Fitzgerald & Collins Funeral Home. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Fitzgerald & Collins Funeral Home, 378 Lincoln St., Marlborough, MA 01752.
