Shrewsbury – Gloria J. “Bammie” (Piekarski) Favacchia, 67, passed away suddenly Wednesday, March 14, 2012, with her family by her side.
Born Sept. 11, 1944 in Norristown, Pennsylvania, her mother and stepfather were Virginia (Sprouse) and Edward Storm, and she was raised and educated in Pennsylvania before moving to Shrewsbury in 1975.
She is survived by her devoted husband and partner of 49 years, Ronald B. Favacchia; the three children she loved so much, Lisa A Pellegrino and her husband Steven of Shrewsbury, Denise L. Landry and her husband Christopher of Auburn, and Ronald V. Favacchia of Shrewsbury; and six grandchildren who adored being with Bammie, Lindsey, Samantha, John, Erica, Jacob, and Peter. She also leaves behind a brother, Joseph Piekarski, and a sister, Cyndi Higgins, both in Pennsylvania, and nieces and nephews, extended family, and a host of friends. A sister, Robin Storm, predeceased her.
Mrs. Favacchia worked as an underwriter in the insurance industry for the former Paul Revere, now Unum Provident Insurance Company, before retiring.
She was an enthusiastic collector of Disney Items and traveled to Disney World yearly. She loved to read and write, but her greatest pride was her family, especially watching her grandchildren dance.
Friends and Relatives are invited to visit with the family Sunday, March 18, from 3 to 6 p.m., in the Mercadante Funeral Home & Chapel, 370 Plantation St., Worcester. Her funeral will be held Monday, March 19, from the funeral home with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Anne's Church, 130 Boston Tpke., Shrewsbury. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery.
