Northborough – The Northborough Senior Center hosted an informative presentation on recognizing and reporting scams March 22. Amane AbdelJaber and Amy Skrzek, mediators from the office of the Attorney General in Massachusetts, provided ways for seniors to keep from being taking advantage of by unscrupulous people.
Moderators suggested ways that seniors can protect themselves from credit card fraud, investment scams, identity theft and suspicious property investments.
“In conjunction with the FTC's National Consumer Protection Week, state agencies are encouraged to go out into the community to spread awareness,” AbdelJaber said.
A variety of brochures were available addressing these issues with phone numbers listed in order to contact the proper authority in the event of scams or suspicious business practices.
