The C.A. six tips of the day for March 27

The C.A. six tips of the day for March 27Region – It's a tradition almost as popular as the Super Bowl – “March Madness”. The NCAA men's basketball tournament takes on a life of its own every March with avid and once-a-year fans joining in on all the fun and hype. It all started on this day back in 1939 when the University of Oregon defeated Ohio State University 46–33 to capture the first ever NCAA men's basketball title.

Happy birthday today to Patty Smith Hill (1868), who with her sister Mildred wrote the song “Happy Birthday to you,”; actress Gloria Swanson (1899); and singer Mariah Carey (1971).

Here are six tips for the day –

1. Shrewsbury High School will be presenting “Curtains” March 29 through 31. The musical is described as a “compelling yet zany whodunit murder mystery, comedy and love story of song and dance.”

2. Buying a house is one of the biggest and probably most stressful things one will ever do. The Westborough Public Library is offering a seminar on Wednesday, March 28 to help those who are hoping to buy their first homes.

3. The Brain Injury Association of Massachusetts will be holding its annual conference in Marlborough on Thursday, March 29.

4. This sounds like a fun event for kids ages eight and up – “Science Experiments – Detective Science” at the Northborough Free Library on Wednesday, March 28.

5. The five major high schools in the C.A. readership area are in the Midland Wachusett League (MWL). Here's a link to the MWL website where you can find schedules, results etc. for all of the spring sports.

6. This is just a fun picture! We have photographers who work for the C.A. but we also welcome pictures from our readers, too. If you have one you would like to share, please email it to Kathy Behan, managing editor, at [email protected].
