Southborough – Mary Catherine (Brown) Gorman, 85, born March 13, 1927, passed away Saturday morning, March 24, 2012. She was surrounded by family and friends during a brief illness. She was the loving wife of the late Leonard Evans Gorman for 46 years, until his death in 2001, raising their family of five in Southborough.

Born in Boston, the daughter of the late George James Brown of Wales and Mary Ellen (Fahey) Brown of Ireland, she grew up on Fuller Brook Farm in Wellesley. She was a graduate of Wellesley High School and LaSalle Junior College.

Mrs. Gorman worked at Grover Cronin and then Newton-Wellesley Savings Bank. She was a longstanding member of Saint Anne's Parish. She was also a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and the Catholic Women's Club. She was a former member of the Newman Club at St. Paul's in Wellesley, where she first met Lenny.

She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends in many ways, including golfing, bowling and travelling. Cape Cod was a favored destination, since the early 50's. She passed these passions on to her children.

She is survived by her children, Martha Gorman and Paul Joseph of Wellfleet, Terrence Gorman of Westborough, Laura Potenza and her husband Dan, Mandy Ackley and her husband Bob, all of Southborough, and Jackie Gorman of Westborough; her siblings, George D. Brown, Donald Brown and his wife Fay, all of Florida, and David S. Brown of New York; her sister-in-law, Phyllis Lanza; nd five grandchildren, Tori, Christopher, Robert and Rachael Ackley, and Alexa Potenza. She was predeceased by a sister-in-law, Barbara (Stephan) Brown.

Visiting hours will be held Monday, March 26, from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m., at Morris Funeral Home, 40 Main St., Southborough. A funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, March 27 at St. Anne Church, 20 Boston Rd, Southborough. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
