Rose Arello, 99Oxford – Rose Arello, 99, passed away peacefully at home Friday, March 23, 2012, surrounded by her loving family. She lived her life according to her strong faith.

Born April 15, 1912 in Shrewsbury, she was a daughter of Phillipo and Ursula Cristallo and was educated in Worcester schools.

Mrs. Arello was an expert seamstress who crafted professional quality clothing. She worked in many retail sales positions and as an office assistant.

She dedicated her life to her family, and spending time with them was her greatest joy. Included in the love for her immediate family was the love for her two nieces and a nephew and her Arello sisters-in-law.

She enjoyed gardening and loved to cook and bake. Family and friends looked forward to tasting her homemade Italian specialties. She was loved and respected for her strength, kindness and generosity.

She leaves her daughter, Arlene Arello, with whom she lived, and her sons, Robert Arello Sr. and his wife Joanne of Princeton and Philip Arello and his wife Johna of Princeton. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Kathleen Senior, Robert Arello Jr. Ursula Arello, Steven Larson, Robert Larson, Lisa Arello, Suellen Dumas, and Jon Arello; 12 great-grandchildren, Loren and Benjamin Senior, Eleanora Winston, Shane, Camille and Norah Larson, Benjamin and Olivia Larson, Cameron and Jillian Arello, and Julia and Eric Dumas; and two step-great-grandchildren, Brandii and Lexi Lacy. She also leaves dear friends, Frances and Marilyn Polito. She was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Benjamin Arello, who died in 1990; two sisters, Mary Caparso and Josephine Cristallo; and four brothers, Salvatore, Joseph, Chris, and Vincent Cristallo.

The family wishes to thank the nurses of the VNA of Southern Worcester County, especially Nancy Noonan, and Hospice of the VNA Care Network.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday, March 27 from the Mercadante Funeral Home & Chapel, 370 Plantation St., Worcester, with a Mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m. in the Church of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel – St Ann, 24 Mulberry St., Worcester. Calling hours in the funeral home will be Monday, March 26, from 4 to 7 p.m. Interment will be alongside her husband in Note Dame Cemetery.
