Enjoy an evening of sharing and entertainment with Hudson Story Slam
After the popularity of last year's Hudson Story Slam, Unitarian Church of Marlborough and Hudson will present it once again April 14. Photo/Submitted

Hudson– Remember that time your neighbor borrowed your lawnmower and never gave it back? How about the time you ran into William Shatner on an airplane? Do you remember sitting on the front porch, exchanging tales with your grandparents about life in the good old days? Everyone has a story – and it's your turn to tell it.

Unitarian Church of Marlborough and Hudson will be hosting the event Saturday, April 14, from 7 to 9 p.m. A donation of $5 per person is suggested.

Ten storytellers will be picked from a hat to regale the audience with five-minute stories. The stories can be real or fictional, anecdotes or folk tales you grew up with. You don’t have to be a storyteller to attend – just come and let the wealth of stories present in our community entrance you. Volunteer judges will also be selected from the audience, and three winners will be awarded gift cards to Barnes & Noble.

Stories will be judged on content, structure, performance, and sticking to the time limit. While this event isn’t specifically geared toward children, stories should be family-friendly. The stories will not be reviewed in advance.

Local journalist Becki Harrington-Davis will emcee the event, and the Rev. Alice Anachecka-Nasemann, an accomplished storyteller, will kick off the evening with a story of her own. Coffee and light refreshments will be served.

Unitarian Church of Marlborough and Hudson is located at 80 Main St. in Hudson. For more information, call 978-562-9180 or visit www.ucmh.org.
