Road Scholars 5K celebrates five years

Shrewsbury Road Scholars 5K celebrates five yearsShrewsbury – Over 400 runners of all ages start the fifth annual Shrewsbury Scholars 5K and One-Mile Fun Run held April 1, beginning and ending at Oak Middle School. Finishing first overall in 16:58 was Chris Williams (center, #299), a junior at Shrewsbury High School. The first-place female finishing in 19:48 was Sheila Bashant, a Shrewsbury native visiting from Ballston Lake, N.Y. The event's major sponsors were Avidia Bank, Dunkin’ Donuts, Fallon Community Health Plan and Shrewsbury Health & Racquet Club (SHAC). Proceeds go to the Citizens Education Fund, which provides ongoing funding to the town's public schools.
