Shrewsbury – Parents in town are used to paying fees to have their kids take the bus or to play sports. However, an increase in those rates is now being considered to help alleviate a $844,000 shortfall in the coming year's schools budget. To save money, several sports-related budget options are being discussed including raising individual sports fees, eliminating the family fee cap, and eliminating athlete transportation to and from away games.
The School Committee is expected to discuss the issue at its next meeting, Wednesday, April 11.
